Woodbury University Autonomous Student Association Point
The Woodbury University Autonomous Student Association Point project revolves around the design concept of creating a semi-enclosed covered space tailored to meet the unique needs of small groups of students. The objective is to provide a tranquil environment conducive to quiet conversations and focused studying, both individually and in small groups. Emphasizing thoughtful design, the project aims to offer purposeful lines of sight and captivating views that have a positive and calming impact on students. By strategically integrating elements that inspire serenity and concentration, the Woodbury University Autonomous Student Association Point seeks to become a haven for contemplation, fostering a conducive atmosphere for academic pursuits within the dynamic campus environment.
TriadZen Canopy: A Dynamic Exploration of Form and Views
The design concept I developed for this project involves three distinct triangular shapes that, when separate, function as non-structural forms. However, when interconnected, they seamlessly transform into a cohesive shell structure. Positioned at varying levels, each form is accessible through ramps, creating a dynamic and visually engaging space. The cladding of the structure is crafted from perforated metal panels, with a unique feature: as one ascends the forms, the perforations gradually increase, transitioning into smaller and more numerous holes. This use of perforated cladding not only provides a semi-enclosed space for students but also offers an evolving visual experience. As individuals traverse the interconnected forms, they enjoy a harmonious blend of shelter and openness, with panoramic views of the campus surroundings enhancing the overall experience of the space.
